(成果)1.九大所蔵のターラ古写本(330葉)の約半分をコンピュータによってローマ字に書写した。2.東京大学、京都大学に所蔵されている『十万頌般若経』写本のコピーを入手し、それらとの照合を上記の書写の範囲についてなした。3.漢訳、チベット語訳との照合も上記の書写の範囲についてなした。ただ、チベット語訳との照合はなお多くの問題点を残した。4.九大所蔵の写本には葉番号の不明な葉が数十枚あるが、それらの番号の推定(別言すれば、それらの葉の位置の推定)はなしえなかった。それは、この推定が、葉番号の分かっている葉をすべてローマ字化したのち始めて可能なことであるからである。(総括と今後の課題)今後、後半のローマ字化をなし、同時にそれを他の写本や漢訳、チベット語訳との照合をなすことはもちろんであるが、なお外国に所蔵されている写本を入手、照合することなど、残された問題は多い。しかし、本研究はもともと、最終目的である九大所蔵古写本のローマ字化による公刊のための端緒をつけることを目指したものであるが、それは果たせたと思う。本研究代表者は平成5年3月31日をもって停年退官する。残る九大関係者が継続してこの研究の最終目的を成し遂げるのを見守りたい。
