项目摘要

本研究の目的は、福岡市博多(肥筑方言圏)と北九州市小倉(豊日方言圏)という異なる方言圏に属する九州の2大百万都市において、共通の調査票によって調査することにより、両都市方言の現在の在り様を比較対照しながら明らかにし、その将来を見通すとともに、広く地域語の在り方を考察するものであった。調査は1992年夏、両都市4つの年層それぞれ10名(男女各5名ずつ)、計40名ずつのネイティブを対象に行なった。以下に調査項目の柱ごとに、得られた知見を記す。なお詳細は『地方中核都市方言調査報告-福岡市・北九州市-』を参照のこと。1.地方共通語(気づかない方言):使用と意識両面からの調査により、方言と気づかれないで広く使用されている語彙・語法のあることが確認された。これらは年層差の少ない比較的安定したものであった。2.新方言、ネオダイアレクト:地方独自に発生し、広がりつつあるものが多数確認され、今後の両都市方言の一端が伺えた。新方言は方言意識の明瞭なもので、バリ、チカッパ‘とても'など。ネオダイアレクトはおもに共通語の影響を受けた新形でオランカッタ‘居なかった'など多数。特に語法面に関わるものは方言文法の変化として重要である。3.共通語化:方言語彙・語法が共通語のそれへ取り替えられる現象も従来通り進んでいる。濁音を持ち、共通語形とは異なる語形が他のものより取り替えが早いようであるが、ギリギリ‘つむじ'、ペロ‘舌'など日常生活語の中には根強いのも見られた。4.東京弁化:これまで明らかに東京的言い方として縁遠かったものが、都市化とともに徐々に受容され、これまで地域方言固有の領域と思われていたインフォーマルな場面に用いられる現象が若い世代でいくつか確認された。デカイ、(ヤツ)タッケなどさらに広まる可能性がある。
