森コンツェルンの中心的な企業である昭和肥料と日本電工について、(1)意思決定を規定した条件、(2)その意思決定を制約したはずの資金調達上の条件の検討という形で研究を開始した。昭和肥料:(1)の意思決定を規定した条件については,申請時の段階で、海外のアンモニア合成技術導入断念と東工試法の採用,アンモニア合成成功直後の石灰窒素製造開始と数年後の工場廃止、製鉄事業計画推進と計画破棄という,一連の一見すると不可解な意思決定を規定した条件は「余剰電力問題」であるという仮説を提示した。この仮証は,役員会議事録をはじめとする経営一次資料によって論証できた。また,(2)の資金調達の条件は,株式の半分を所有した東京電灯の払込金が昭和肥料の支払電力料金であったこと。そのことが昭和肥料の株式による資金調達を因難にし,経営意思決定を規制したという仮説を予定通り論証できた。尚,この論証は修正資金運用表により今後更に精緻化されるはずである。日本電工:(1)の意思決定を規定した条件については,アルミナ原料の明礬石からボーキサイトへの転換という意思決定における優柔不断が森矗昶の企業家としての挫折に結果したという仮説を申請時に提示した。資料的制約から困難であったが,仮説の論証の見込は立ちつつある。また,(2)については,森矗昶の優柔不断は資金調達上の困難に規制されたという見通しを研究の過程で得るに至り,現在作成しつつある日本電工の修正資金運用表を以て論証する予定である。本研究の成果は近いうちに,学会誌ないし大学の紀要に発表する予定である。
