1.研究代表者岩崎は,5つのMathieu群のそれぞれに付随する幾何である5つの(Mathieu-)Wittシステムをできるだけ自然かつ初等的統一的に把握する研究の一環として,今年度は3つの大きなシステム W_<24>,W_<23>,W_<22>の存在の一意性の新しい初等的統一的な証明を与えることができた.すなわち,これら3つのシステムの一意性ーーこれら3つと同一のパラメーターをもつSteinerシステムはそれぞれ同型である ーーを,初等的で単純な同一の方法ーー問題になっているパラメーターをもつ3つのSteinerシステムに対し,ある一定の方法に従って,全ての点に適当な名前をつけることができるという点の命名法と全てのブロックを明示することができるというブロックの書き上げ法を具体的に提示したーーで証明した.またこの証明は,3つのシステムの存在・構成をも与えている.2.分担者山崎昌男は,ある発展方程式の初期値問題に関する興味深い結果を得た.すなわち,主部が楕円型とは限らない定数係数擬微分作用素と非有界なポテンシャルの和の形に書ける作用素を発展作用素とする発展方程式の初期値問題がL^2(IR^n)-空間で適切になるための,擬微分作用素のシンボルとポテンシャルの増大度に関する精密な十分条件ーー必要条件にかなり近いーーを得た.この条件は,シュレーディンガー方程式など物理における重要な方程式にも適用できるものである.3.ごく簡単に述べるにとどめるが,分担者町田は本質的極小クローンと亜群に関して,分担者宮地はある種の関数空間における関数の延長に関して,それぞれ興味深い成果をあげた.4.今回の科研費の援助により,代表者・分担者はそれぞれの専攻分野に関する研究集会に参加して,研究を発表し,有益な研究交流を行った.
