英文摘要
Osteoporosis was the one of important disease in coming aged society. This investigation was to assess the value of MRI in evaluation of osteoporosis. Conventional spin-echo technique could not demonstrate changes of bone substance in patients with osteoporosis because signal of bone substance was much smaller than fat signal in this imaging sequence. We used chemical fat saturation(FS)MR imaging in the evaluation of bone substance that could reduce fat signal. Osteoporotic rabbits and nomal rabbits were used in experimental study. Fifty females aged 18 to 75 year-old were included in human study. Conventional T1-, T2 and FS-T1-weighted images were obtained in these rabbits. Signal intensity ratio on FS-T1-weighted and FS-T2-weighted images of osteoporotic rabbits were both statistically lower than that of normal rabbits. Quantitative measurements of T1 and T2 relaxation times on FS of osteoporotic rabbits were shorter than that of normal ones. Signal intensity ratio on FS-T1 weighted images of vertebral bone marrow of females were also calculated. The results showed a decrease of signal intensity ratio with advancing age. These results suggest that FS imaging can depict tha change of trabecular matrix collagen that occur in such cases like osteoporosis or aging.
