项目摘要

本研究では、電子ネットワーク上の仮想空間でグラフィカル自己像をディスプレイ表示しながら他者と文字コミュニケーションを行うというビジュアル通信を実験的に構築し、その利用に際したコミュニケーション行動、心理変容の過程において認められる電子パーソナリティの形成プロセスについて調査研究した。<映像通信ネットワークシステム構築>アップル社パソコン(パワーマッキントッシュ8100/80AV)をホストとした実験室内ネットワークシステムを構築した。本ネットワークシステムはビデオ映像の送受信とコンピュータグラフィック映像の送受信を実現できる映像通信システムとした。<グラフィックエージェントの制作>対話者のエージェントとなるコンピュータグラフィック像を、ピ-マンや茄子などの野菜コンセプトで作成した。グラフィックエージェントは「首を傾げる」「うなずく」の動作と「驚き、恐怖、嫌悪、怒り、幸福、悲しみ」の6表情を表出できるようにした。<映像通信ネットワークによるト-ク実験>大学生7名を被験者とし、グラフィックエージェント群とビデオ映像群との比較でト-ク実験を行ない、発言頻度、発言量、発話長、特有言語の生起、記号情緒や方言の生起など、また、儀式性、非言語表出性、距離調整などの項目について分析した。その結果、仮想空間における代理エージェントト-クという対話環境では、話す時間の長さやタイミングが延長傾向にあり、また情緒の表出の中性化が起こりがちであることが明らかとなり、客体化された自己の認識を常に意識したパーソナリティ形成が促進される可能性の高いことが示唆された。
