発達遅延乳幼児のための早期教育プログラムである「ポ-テージ乳幼児教育プログラム」を1983年に翻案・刊行して以来,10年以上に及びこのプログラムの臨床的妥当性についての検討を続け,その有効性を示した。それらの過程で,父親の参加と役割についてはそれほど積極的には検討されてこなかったといえよう。そこで本研究では,「ポ-テージ乳幼児教育プログラム」のような家庭を指導の場とする早期教育プログラムを実行する際の,父親の参加や行動論的な立場から父親訓練の方法などについて検討することを目的とする。対象となった父親と家族は,「ポ-テージ乳幼児教育プログラム」による指導を継続している5組であった(子供の障害は全員ダウン症,年令範囲は3歳6ヵ月〜4歳2ヵ月,男児4名,女児1名)。本研究は次のように実施された。(1)生態学的調査-父親の参加と役割および子供への最適な対応をする情報を得るために,環境状況を多角的に精査した。(2)事例検討(標的行動の選定)-以上の情報をもとに,子供に指導する標的行動を選定するとともに,障害児を持つ家族の父親について事例ごとに検討した。(3)家族問題解決-家族における早期教育を妨害する要因を分析し,最適な養育環境としての家庭を構成した。(4)指導プログラムの作成-子供の教育的ニーズに対応して,父親などが指導する具体的な標的行動を選定・構成した。(5)父親への援助技術の指導-子供の指導プログラムを父親が適切に実行するために,父親に行動分析にもとづく援助技術を実地に指導した。こうして5組の家族において,早期教育の指導活動への父親の参加によって,一人ひとりの子供に標的行動が獲得され,障害をもつ子供の発達援助や母親の養育の負担軽減などに寄与できたといえよう。
