RESEARCH ON ACQUAINTANCE FROM WESTERN MODERN THOUGHT IN CHINA

This research project, research on acqaintance from Western modern thought in China, has been accomplished by our team, for the purpose of making clear the substance of contact between Chinese civilisation and Western civilisation (sciencies and technologies). We especially paid attension to the roll of Japan in the acqaintance. One of the impotant purposes is collecting many good materials, books (including translated books) and magazines published in the Meiji period, because such kind of work hasn't been accomplished sufficiently. We collected, mentioned the last abstracts, a complete set of "Toho kyokai kaihou (******)". The "Toho kyokai" was a Japanese Asianism society which had a relation with Sun Wen (**), Liang Qichao (***) and so on, key persons of above mentioned acquaintance. Other good material, for instance, is a biography of Madame Roland ("Roran fujin den" in Japanese, "Luolan furen zhuan" in Chinese) that had written by Tokutomi Roka (****), included in the "Sekai kokin meihu kan (*******). Liang Qichao's "Luolan furen Zhuan (*****)" on the "Xinmin congbao (****)" is an important article of his political thought. However, most of it was not his own work but a translation of Roka's "Futukoku kakumei no hana : Roran fujin no den (****** : ********)". We will publish our research results in the near future.
