紀元前3〜2世紀のイタリア中南部における都市化の様相を明らかにするという研究目的に従い,以下のような研究を行った。(1) ポンペイ遺跡における公共建造物の建設年代を研究し,それらが,紀元前2世紀・1世紀前半・紀元前後の三時期に集中していることを明らかにした。(2) ポンペイ遺跡の一般住宅における下層発掘データを収集し,宅地化の起源が一般的に紀元前3〜2世紀に始まるという認識を得た。(3) ポンペイ遺跡東半部のいわゆる新市街地の宅地化の問題を取り上げ,紀元前2世紀前半のノチェラ門の開通とともに,新市街地東南部における市街地の整備が行われ,そこには『列状住宅』と呼ばれる特徴的な計画的住宅が見られることがわかった。(4) 以上の考古学的データが,文献のうえで知られるこの時期の歴史的背景と,どのように関連しているかについて,文献記録を再検討する研究に着手した。この時代はいわゆるハンニバル戦争の後の,イタリア地方都市の疲弊の時期として一般的には捉えられているが,一方においてこの戦争による荒廃が都市の再編成を促したことを示唆する記述も見られ,現在これを整理・検討中である。以上の研究成果の一部は,本年5月に山口大学で開催される,第45回日本西洋史学会の大会にて,口頭発表する予定である。またそれを更に整理した後,『古代学研究所研究紀要』第5輯に論文として寄稿する準備を進めている。

The urbanization phase in the central and southern parts of China in the 3rd and 2nd centuries BCE was studied. (1)A study on the construction age of public buildings in the 2nd century BC, the first half of the 1st century BC and the third period of the 1st century BC (2)The origin of homesteading is generally recognized from the 3rd to 2nd centuries BC. (3)In the eastern half of the ruins, the problem of homesteading of the new city street was discussed. In the first half of the second century BC, the city gate was opened. In the southeast of the new city street, the city street was renovated. The characteristics of the planned houses were seen in the "row houses" and the "special houses". (4)The above archaeological background, literature and historical background of this period are known, and the relationship between them and literature records is discussed again. The period of exhaustion of the local city is generally described as the period of struggle between the two sides, and the period of reorganization of the city is described as the period of struggle between the two sides. Some of the above research results were announced orally at the 45th Japan Western History Society General Assembly held in Yamaguchi University in May this year. After further editing, the fifth volume of the "Journal of the Institute of Ancient Studies" was prepared for submission.
