平成6年度に引き続いて、今年度は神奈川県茅ヶ崎市に所在する下寺尾廃寺出土瓦の胎土と鉱物の分析を行なった。その結果、下寺尾廃寺の瓦には三浦半島の石井瓦窯、公郷瓦窯、乗越瓦窯製品にみられる角閃石・輝石・石英・長石のほかに海綿骨針である白色針状物質が含まれることが判明した。この白色針状物質を含む下寺尾廃寺の瓦は鎌倉郡衙に付属していたとみられる鎌倉廃寺でも認められ、年代的には7世紀末から8世紀前半ころまでに製作されたものであることが明らかにされている。しかし、白色針状物質を含む下寺尾廃寺の瓦がどこで製作されたものかはまだ不明であるが、おそらく第三紀層を粘土の材料にした瓦窯が鎌倉市周辺に存在したものとみられる。このことに関連して、鎌倉市千葉地東遺跡では下寺尾廃寺のものと同じ瓦類と共に畿内産の土師器暗文土器を模倣した在地産の暗文のある土師器蓋・坏が8世紀初頭の土師器類と一緒に出土しており、この暗文のある土師器蓋・坏のみは胎土に白色針状物質を含んでいる。そして畿内産の暗文土器を模倣して成立した在地産のものは螺旋文や放射状暗文の在り方からみて、八王子市一帯に生産基盤がある盤状坏に影響をあたえていることが分かってきた。この模倣された土師器暗文土器や盤状坏はロクロ成形によった箱形断面を呈し、器形的に須恵器とも密接に関連したものであることを示している。そして、この箱形は奈良・平安時代の相模型坏の成立とも関連し、相模型坏のなかには内面に布目痕をもつものを確認することができ、型造りであったことを証明することができた。律令制時代の相模型坏が瓦の製作技法と同じものであったことが分かり、瓦工人と土器生産工人とに密接な関係があったことを示し、その工人の管理は国衙機構レベルで掌握されていたとみてよいことまで究明することができた。
