われわれは,都市型大手私鉄企業の多角的事業展開を軸とした経営戦略について多方面から研究を行い,これらから交通政策上のインプリケーションの導出,さらには他のケースへの移転可能性の検討を最終的な目標として研究を開始した。本年度の研究活動の実績の概要は以下の通りである。(1)わが国における都市鉄道に対する公的規制を中心とした諸政策,さらに大手私鉄の多角化の実態についてレビューすることが基礎的作業となることはいうまでもない。これについては開始前からある程度予期されたことであったが,いくつか重要な先行研究が存在したもののわれわれの視座からすれば不十分な点も多かったので,まずこの点の解明につとめた。この成果は,作業の中心となった正司の手によってまとめられ,金本・山内編『交通』(NTT出版)第3章「鉄道輸送」として納められている。(2)また,沿線の地域構造やその事業環境に大きく影響を与えているクルマの利用経験について,われわれの意図しているような十分なデータを収集するためには,やはり画像情報も含めたデータ提示を援用しながらのインタビュー手法を開発する必要があることが明らかになり,その開発に努め,まだパイロット段階ではあるがある程度の成果が得られた。これについては,作業の中心となった大津によってまとめられ,この7月刊行予定の雑誌『経済理論』に所収される予定である。(3)これらの成果を統合し,さらに関西系大手私鉄企業グループに対して行われたアンケート・データの解析を重ねた分析については,現在投稿準備中の段階にある。1月17日に勃発した未曾有の阪神・淡路大震災の影響を受けて,まだ公表手段は確定していないが,少なくとも本年7月ニュージーランド(正司が参加の予定)にて開かれる第4回陸上交通にたいする規制緩和に関する国際会議の場で,本分野の第一線の世界の研究者からコメントをいただけることはほぼ確定している。
