複素多様体の幾何および解析はまず群論的対称性の観点から進展を見た。アーベル多様体のモジュライ空間の幾何学には、離散的シンプレクティック群が深く関係する。例えばアーベル曲面に3等分点を付加したものを考えるとき,この群は例外リー代数E_6のワイル群とほぼ同型となってモジュライに作用する。他方このワイル群は3次元複素射影空間内の非特異3次曲面の理論において重要な役割を演ずる。このことは種数2代数曲線が特異点なしに3次曲面に埋め込めることとの何らかの関係を示唆している。本研究ではフレイム付3次曲面のモジュライおよびその上の曲面族の自然な構成に成功した。これを,対応するアーベル曲面のモジュライ比較することは将来の課題として残された。またQ上定義された3次曲面上の有理点分布とモジュライ上の特殊点との関連も考察された。モジュライ上の自然なケーラー計量の構成、およびそれと係る解析学の探究も試みられた。
