婦人科疾患の開腹手術例において腹腔細胞診を採取し、パパニコロ-染色およびギムザ染色を行い、中皮細胞を細胞形態学的に検討した。婦人科疾患としては良性腫瘍性疾患・炎症性疾患・悪性腫瘍性疾患を対象とした。中皮細胞のなかでも反応性中皮細胞を別個に分類し、その形態学的特徴を明らかにし、その診断基準を設定した。更に、腹腔細胞診を免疫組織学的手法を用いて検索し、細胞形態学的に反応性中皮細胞および腺癌細胞と診断された細胞の免疫組織学的特徴を検討した。しかし、反応性中皮細胞の出現した症例が、当初の予想よりも少なかったため、その細胞形態学的診断基準の設定が遅れた。また、細胞形態学的に反応性中皮細胞と診断した細胞を、組織学的に検索することが難しく、反応性中皮細胞の組織学的な証明が困難であった。平成7年度は、すでに設定された反応性中皮細胞と腺癌細胞の形態学的診断基準および免疫組織化学的診断基準に基づき、さらに症例数を追加し、判定基準の妥当性について検討する。一方、平成6年度に検討した症例の臨床的経過を観察し、判定基準の設定の参考にする。以上の成果を踏まえて、平成6年度に設定した反応性中皮細胞と腺癌細胞の免疫組織化学的診断基準に改変を加え、第2年度のデータ収集を行う。それとともに、2年間の成績をまとめ、腹腔細胞診における反応性中皮細胞と腺癌細胞の形態学的および免疫組織化学的な鑑別点を明確にする。
