清水甚吾は明治44年4月に奈良女高師附小が創設される際に福岡師範附小から招かれ、昭和20年7月に退職するまで奈良女高師附小の算術教育の中心的人物として活躍した。彼の算術教育論の成立過程は大まかに次の3期に分けて捉えることができる。即ち、明治39年〜大正8年:「分団教授」時代、大正9年〜大正15年:「作問中心の算術教育」実地体験時代、昭和2年〜昭和14年:「作問中心の算術教育」系統化、実行容易化時代である。本研究では以下のように研究目的を設定していた。(1)清水甚吾の思想とその方法を実践に即して具体的に捉えること、(2)清水甚吾が教え子に残したものを明らかにすること。(1)に答えるため、清水が木下竹次の指導の下に「学習法」を算術科に適用する中で成立させた「作問中心の算術教育」の実際を、大正9年から6ヶ年持ち上がりながら指導した児童に対する算術指導の実際を彼が残した資料から再構成し、学習内容系統表としてまとめた。更に、当時の国定算術教科書の内容と比較分析ができるように対照表を作成した。清水が昭和に入って積極的に研究した「作問中心の算術教育」の系統化、実行容易化の研究の過程で、一般の教師にも実行可能なものにするという意図で作成された「算術学習帳」の構成原理、内容についても分析した。また、清水甚吾の著作、論文目録を歴史年表の形で作成した。更に、奈良女高師の算術教育を支えた池内房吉、仲本三二、塚本清が「学習研究」誌に載せた論文目録も作成した。(2)に答えるため、清水の教え子(昭和9年から14年まで清水が担任)にインタビューを実施し、清水が児童に残したものを捉えようとした。この(2)については、まだ途についたばかりで、十分な成果は得られていない。(1)、(2)について、今後研究を継続発展させる必要がある。

Shimizu Shigo was active in the center of arithmetic education at Nara Girls 'High School when he was founded in April 1944 and retired in July 1920. Shimizu Showa has been actively studying the systematization and implementation of the research process of "arithmetic education in the center of work", and the general teacher has been working on the construction principle and content of the "arithmetic learning account". The list of works and papers of Shimizu Shigo was compiled in the form of a chronology.
