项目摘要

マルチメディアデータベースに対する従来の手法では、データの持つ意味内容を文字/数値データとして持たせたり適応領域を狭く限定したものであったため、データベースの一慣性保持やシステムの柔軟性等に問題がある。本研究では、それらの問題を解決するため、知識による内容検索を行うシステムを構築した。内容検索時に参照する知識の構造については、検索されるべき意味内容は、即ち「概念」を構成する特徴項目とそれを抽出する手続き、演算子の意味/解釈定義、そして問い合わせに記述され得る制約の変換規則の記述の組を1つの知識単位とすることにした。尚、本システムは、オブジェクト指向データモデルに基づいたデータベース設計を採用した。各々の知識は、その概念を含むオブジェクトの属するクラスに定義し、データベーススキーマと知識の構造の一元管理をおしすすめた。あわせて、検索時の属性名と知識とを連結するために、仮想属性という考えを新たに導入した。ところで、知識によるマルチメディアデータの内容検索を行う場合、定義された知識による内容抽出の結果と検索者の感性が微妙に食い違う場合が考えられ得る。そのため、検索の過程で参照された知識の記述内容をテンプレートに表示し、その定義内容を簡単な操作で変更できるユーザインタフェーズのプロトタイプを併せて作成した。これにより、ユーザはより自分の感性に合致した検索結果を得るためのフィードバックをシステムに与えることができる。今回は、ハードウェア環境の制約上対象として画像データを選んだが、音声や異種メディアの複合データに対しても処理が行えるようシステムを拡張し、評価することが今後の課題である。
