本研究では経済社会の複雑化,高度情報化の進展にともなうさまざまな課題について,動的最適化および関連する理論からの接近を行ってきた。日本経済は急激に進行する円高や海外との貿易摩擦など,複雑な問題を克服するためにより明解でルール化された手法で政治経済に当たる時期にきていることを研究者の共通認識とした。経営のグローバル化,動的な展開という視点から,時永はアジアの情報通信事情を通じて日本企業と海外との結びつきを分析し,途上国の情報通信インフラの未整備が及ぼす影響,あるいはその解決策について研究を行った。また,日本国内における企業経営,ビジネスの高度化,コンピュータ化の問題に関連して,エキスパートシステムの活用,人工知能技術の応用,あるいは株価など重要な経営データの管理システムについて研究を行い,論文および著書としてまとめた。児玉は,従来より行ってきた確率的在庫問題についての一般的な解法を開発することに成功し,これを各種の多期間モデル,複雑な単期間モデルに応用することを示している。古川は従来のデータベース理論を更に発展させ,現在の理論的なネックとなっているオブジェクト指向の概念を経済データベースの分野にも導入することを試みている。以上のように,主として企業経営,生産管理,情報管理の分野における動的手法や動的評価を実際のモデル,事例に当てはめた分析を実施することができた。
