大学を含めた学校教育における情報リテラシー教育の重要性はすでに指摘されているところであるが、そこでの情報リテラシーの概念は必ずしも明確ではなく、図書館を中心とする情報資源の利用能力育成を含めた広い分脈で捉える視点の確立が求められている。すなわち、情報リテラシー教育に図書館利用教育を統合することは、新しい情報環境と生涯学習社会における自立した学習者として生徒・学生を育成するためにはきわめて重要であるという問題認識に立って、図書館資源を中心とする情報資源の利用教育に関する理論構築と教授法モデル開発を試みた。まず図書館利用教育(指導)および情報リテラシー教育に関する国内文献・外国文献を幅広く収集し、使用されている用語・概念を整理し、提起されている問題点を検討することによって現段階における研究状況を把握した。加えて、生徒・学生の実際の学習活動および情報利用行動に関する既発表の報告や調査を情報資源利用教育との関係から分析・考察した。このような作業を踏まえた上で、教育学、認知科学、心理学、社会学といった関連諸分野の研究成果を援用して、情報資源利用教育の理論化を試みた。さらに次の段階として、情報機器を用いた利用教育教授法の開発に着手した。

Research achievements in the fields of education, cognitive science, psychology and sociology are applied to the theoretical study of information resource utilization education. In this paper, the development of education and teaching methods is discussed.
