上記研究者はこの一年間、フランス詩人、ポール・クローデルにおいてどのように中国詩が影響し、その作品に関係しているかを調査するために、京都大学人文科学研究所・東洋学文献センターを中心に、さらには東京大学東洋文化研究所などにおいても文献調査を重ね、一定の研究成果を得た。もともとクローデルの作品研究として出発したものであったが、調査研究過程で、フランス人文学者、ジュディット・ゴ-チェの『玉書』("Le Livre de Jade")がクローデルの中国詩に文献的に影響を与えた点を鑑み、唐詩を中心とした中国詩の翻訳の一般的状況等も調査し、ゴ-チェの作品研究も平行して行なった。クローデルとゴ-チェでは、東洋的なテーマに対する興味の違いが明確に現われている。たとえば中国詩には、律詩、絶句などの詩型の長短の違いがあるが、ゴ-チェにおいては、長い詩がふんだんに取り入れられているのに対して、一方のクローデルにおいては、その翻訳詩は絶句形式のものが多い。これは日本文化の、俳句などの短い句に触れた後であるからと考えられる。このことは、比較研究の視野からも興味深い事実である。これらの調査研究の結果は、論文として、二、三の研究誌に掲載される予定である。なお以上のテーマは、研究者の、欧米における中国詩の受容状況とその系譜の研究の一環をなすものである。
