本研究では4つの研究課題を設定した。単年度研究であり、データ形式や変換ソフトウェアの調査とその結果に基づく環境の構築を行った。1)従来のMS-DOSのオーサリングシステムで利用していた文字、静止画、ベクトル図をWindowsシステムでマルチメディア教材を作成できるように、BMPなどのファイル形式に変換したり、編集加工できる環境を構築した。この種のソフトウェアはフリーウェアとして提供されているものがある。それを調査し、それぞれの特徴を生かした使い方ができるように、ワンタッチで起動して使えるようにした。2)運動とエネルギーなど、教授・学習に使える素材を出版社の協力を得て収集し、素材ライブラリを作った。文溪堂の協力を得て、イメージスキャナで取り込んで150のファイルを作成した。3)連続的に一括変換できる環境を開発した。拡張子が同じものを一括して変換したり、選択マークをつけたものだけ変換することができるようにした。このことにより、本研究の目的以外にも利用できる有用性が確認された。4)FCAI、シミュレーションなど、堀口秀嗣が中心になって開発してきた教材作成支援ソフトを改善して、経験の浅い教員でもマルチメディア教材を作成できるように自作環境を開発した。シミュレーションをコースウェアから呼び出せるようにFCAIの改訂とシミュレーション実行支援システムを開発した。動きをもった内容が提示できることは、算数・数学、理科などで有効である。これらの開発システムを利用した研修会を(財)学習ソフトウェア情報研究センター主催で行った。わずか1日だけであったが、ワープロ操作ができる教員であれば、記述形式を覚えて、作成して、操作して、簡単なプレゼンテーションができることが確認された。
