项目摘要

本年度は、かねてからの研究計画通り、ポスト徂徠学の時代の主たる思想潮流である折衷派、性霊派、正学派をそれぞれ検討し、１８世紀思想史の総体の把握を試みた。具体的には上記三潮流を、それぞれ井上金峨、山本北山、柴野栗山の三人に代表させ、資料調査および解読をおこなった。作業仮説は次のようなものである。第一に、自らの新機軸を世に示して「不朽」を得るというヴィジョンの成功例として荻生徂徠が認識されたこと。第二に、かかるヴィジョンに基づき、経学の分野でおのれの新機軸を示そうと試みたのが折衷諸家であり、詩文の領域でおのれの表現と詩題を求めたのが清新性霊説を奉じた文芸家たちであったこと。第三に、漢文脈におけるかかる潮流が、その心性・論理・語彙の点で基本的には蘭学や国学などの勃興と通底する現象であり、それらを総体としてとらえることで、新奇が競われた１８世紀思想史の全貌が把握できるのではないかということ。そして第四に、かかる広範囲な「新奇」争いへのアンチテーゼ、すなわちいわば反「豪傑」思想として、寛政正学派の朱子学擁護論を位置づけることができるのではないかということ。本年度は、「豪傑」「新奇」「不朽」などといった語彙群に注目するアプローチから、前述三点の論証を目指した。更に本年度は、上記の研究成果を既成の博士学位論文（『徳川政治思想史における歴史と永遠－－徂徠学から幕末思想まで』東京大学大学院法学政治学研究科、2017年）に反映させ、書籍化することを試みた。以上の内容を、申請者の従前の研究対象である頼山陽ら近世後期の文士たち、吉田松陰ら近世後期の志士たちと結びつけ、18世紀から19世紀にかけての思想史に大きな見取り図を与えることが目標である。実際に、本年度の研究としては、この書籍化の作業に多くの時間を割いた。そして、ほぼ予定通りに、作業を完遂することができた。
