项目摘要

本研究の目的は、グローバルなジハード主義の地域的展開（なぜ影響がある地域とない地域があるのか）について、すでに調査の蓄積があるタイ南部国境県に加えて、当該地域と民族・宗教・慣習など多くの点を共有するマレーシアの観点から多面的に研究していくことであった。初年度の目的は、タイ、マレーシアにおける過激主義をめぐる政策の歴史的背景や特徴を明らかにすること、ならびに現地調査に向けた準備を実施することにあった。研究から明らかになったのは、イスラームの原点により忠実な形での社会・政治改革を志向するイスラーム主義の公の場における出現の仕方の違いが、タイとマレーシアでの政府の対応の仕方の違いにつながっていることである。イスラーム主義の動きは、タイではマレー・ナショナリズムを、マレーシアでは政府の掲げる公的イスラームを、それぞれ克服する意味合いをもつものとして現れてきた。イスラーム国（IS)の台頭以降、とくにマレーシアにおいて顕著なのは、政府が「正しい」イスラームの言説をもって対抗しようとすればするほど、暴力的な宗教としてのイスラームという側面を問題化することにつながってしまっている点である。現地調査について、マレーシアでは研究者および政府関係者に対するインタビューを実施した。また、タイでは研究者、ジャーナリスト、政府による教育プログラムに呼ばれた人々に対するインタビューを実施した。過激化を疑われた人々に対する政府－タイでは軍、マレーシアでは警察－によって行われる教育は、市民をスティグマ化している。この点のさらなる検討に加えて、タイ南部と国境を接する北部クランタン州のマレーシア国内における独特の位置づけについてより慎重な考察が必要であることが明らかになった。
