A Modern Reorganization of Cultural Interaction and Intellectual System in East Asia

近代日本知识分子体系是在传统东方文化的框架内容纳近代西方文化的过程中形成的。为了阐明该系统的特点，我们已经调查并收集了基本来源以及来自各种不同领域的学术史文献，其中研究是连续进行的。通过整合这些现代学术研究的成果，并考虑到日本和东亚的特点，我们试图建立一个新的学术体系，能够应对21世纪世纪全球环境的“后人文”需求。我们还努力形成对问题的共同国际认识。

The modern Japanese intellectual system came into being through the accommodation of modern Western culture within the scheme of traditional Eastern culture. In order to shed light on the peculiarities of that system, we have investigated, and assembled, basic sources as well as literary documentation on academic history from a variety of different fields in which research was conducted disparately. By merging the outcomes of such modern academic research and by taking into account the special features of Japan and East Asia, we have sought to establish a new academic system able to respond to such 'post humanistic' demands of the 21st century as the global environment. We have also endeavoured to generate a common international perception of problems.
