项目摘要

本年度は、去年の引き続き、東アジアの近代史における女性越境者として韓半島へ渡った産婆の状況とそこでの労働環境、生活状態に対する研究を進めた。具体的には次の三つの作業を行った。第一に、『統監府統計年報』の人口・衛生の項目に表れる、産婆の数と、当時韓半島へ住んでいた日本人人口数のデータを集めて整理しながら、産婆たちの分布と日本人人口の推移を分析した。第二に、植民地化される前の韓半島で活動した日本人産婆の活動根拠を確認するために、統監府の機関紙であった『広報』を検討した。ここで、1908年から1910年1月にわたって、日本人が多く居住していた平城・元山・仁川などの地域に日本人医療従事者に対する「営業願届ニ関スル件」という「理事廰令」が発布されたことを確認できた。第三に、去年から引き続き、『京城日報』『朝鮮時報』『釜山日報』などに掲載された日本人産婆の広告や産婆個人及び組合活動に関連する記事を収集し、上記の資料と合わせて分析を行った。研究発信の実績としては、朝鮮史と日本史に対する理解を深めるため、朝鮮史研究会関西支部や韓国の日本史研究会などの、朝鮮史と日本史関係の学会へ加入・参加し、研究発表を行った。10月2日には朝鮮学会第73回大会で本研究の基盤や比較のもととなれる植民地時代の朝鮮人産婆の労働環境に関して発表した。12月17日には、韓国のソウル大学で開かれた日本史学会の第106回月例発表会において「近代日本人産婆の韓半島越境―統監府時期を中心に―」という題目で発表を行った。それによって、産婆の活動と移民法との関りや、日本人警察、特に巡査たちの韓国進出との関係などについて、研究者の方々から多く示唆を受けた。そして、同月に韓国の学術雑誌、『Journal of Japanese History』に朝鮮学会での発表をまとめて、京城で働いた朝鮮人産婆の労働実態に関する論文を掲載できた。
