令和4年度において、熊十力の主著である『新唯識論』のテクスト分析を中心に展開してきた。従来の解釈に踏まえつつ、熊十力の哲学における儒教および仏教の概念は、かなり「近代的」な意味合いが含まれていることが分かってきた。例えば、伝統の中国哲学にある専有名詞を用いながら、新たな西洋的な意味を賦与することによって、西洋近代の哲学概念との親近性を示している。このような概念の接近は、マテオ・リッチ以来のイエズス会宣教師の文化交流活動のなかにも見られる。しかし、熊十力の場合、西洋の哲学概念を転用することではなく、もっぱらその概念を自らの哲学の血肉とさせ、従来の伝統思想を発展させようとした。テクスト分析を踏まえたうえ、熊十力の哲学とカントの哲学との比較研究を行っている。カントの認識論にあるカテゴリー論を参照に、熊十力が『新唯識論』の中に論じたカテゴリーの問題および人間認識の仕組みを分析した。その分析のなかで発見したのが、「純粋カテゴリー」の概念の存在である。すなわち、熊十力が構築する認識のプロセスを完成させるために、純粋カテゴリーの概念が必要とされる。この純粋カテゴリーはいかなる概念なのか。それを用いて認識のプロセスが如何に変化していくのか。さらに言えば、このような概念の発見によって、熊十力の哲学理論が「近代化」へに接近することが言えるのか。以上の成果を論文にまとめて、国内の雑誌へ投稿し、海外にも研究成果を公開する予定である。
