本研究では，日本語を母語とし，英語を第二言語とする学習者によるwh疑問文の習得を対象とし，第二言語習得における文法素性の習得のメカニズムを解明することを目的としている。本年度は，それぞれ日本語と中国語を母語とする学習者による英語のwh疑問文の容認度判断や産出課題の結果を分析し，論文にまとめた。実験の結果，どちらの学習者群も，中級レベルの習熟度の段階では統語レベルでも母語の影響を受けていることが示された。一方で，彼らが構築する英語の文法は，母語（日本語，中国語）のものとも，英語母語話者のものとも異なる学習者独自の体系であることも示された。また，さらに上級レベルの習熟度に達した学習者は，母語話者と大きく変わらない統語知識を習得できることも明らかになった。この結果に加えて他の様々な第二言語現象を踏まえ，第二言語の文法素性習得に関するモデル化を行っている。具体的には，第二言語学習者は，i) 受けるインプットを母語やストラテジーを用いて分析した結果，独自の体系が構築されること，そしてii) インプット分析と生得的資質が相互に作用し合い，文法素性の習得に至ることを提案した。この考えの下では，第二言語習得における生得的資質の役割が明示的に示されており，今後の研究でそれのさらなる帰結を検証していく。研究成果をまとめた論文の一部は現在査読中であるほか，別の原稿も投稿に向けて準備中である。また，来年度開催される学会に向けて投稿準備をしている。
