项目摘要

本年度は主にフィールドワークと文献調査とを並行して行った。フィールドワークでは、小城市内の6つの集落において聞き取り調査を実施した。その結果、いずれの集落においても慢性的な水不足が問題で、近年の導水事業によって水不足も解消されるようになってきたが、導水事業以前では生産活動に多大な影響を与える水不足が度々発生していたことが判明した。一方で、水不足の程度については各集落によって区々であった。これは各集落の置かれている地理的環境や水利灌漑機能（取水方法や水使用慣行など）に影響されているものと考えられ、景観変遷の経過を考察する上で重要な情報となる。また、かつての慣行や習俗などを聞き取ることもでき、集落同士の関係性の構築に、神社の氏子圏や同一水系（同じ用水路）を使用しているか否かといったことが非常に重要であることが判明した。さらに、本年度は土地改良区でも聞き取り調査を実施し、現行用水路の状況や導水事業の影響などについて理解を深めている。なお、こうした聞き取り情報や水利灌漑についてのデータは、すべて電子データとして蓄積・保存しており、今後の公開に向けてデータを整理している段階である。一方、文献調査では「小城藩日記」から災害や生産状況を示すデータを抜き出す作業を実施し、古気候データを用いて生産状況と自然環境（特に気候）との相互関係について検討している。小城藩ではしばしば洪水や旱魃が発生しているが、それらの記事と古気候データとは相関関係にあることが確認でき、古気候データを用いて当該地域の気候状況を説明できる可能性が生じている。この点については未だ予測の範囲を出ていないので、来年度の課題として残されている。
