项目摘要

2022年度における研究実績について述べることとする。本研究における研究活動は、この研究スタート支援に申請する以前より行われており、特段、この研究助成を皮切りとするものではない。従って、予算執行以前より、ある程度の研究成果が生み出されており、現在の研究活動からも今後の研究成果が大いに期待できるところである。日本占領下フィリピンにおける階級上昇という観点からは、当研究では様々な切り口でこの時代を分析できると考えている。戦時下のフィリピン社会でうごめく、エリート以外の大衆の動きは、単純に抵抗と協力という枠組みで捉えきれないほど複雑である。中には駐留日本軍に取り入りながら、戦争物資などを売却して蓄財に成功した者、こうした蓄財に成功した者が抗日勢力に資金援助を施したり、日本軍当局によりゲリラ嫌疑などの容疑によって拘束され、長期間収監されている者らに対して資金援助や食糧援助を施していた例もあった。現在、日本とアメリカで収集された資料を基に新たな英文論考、Resistance and Collaboration over Atonement, Submission and Persuasion: People at the margin during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines（日本語題名、「悔恨、服従、説得をめぐる抵抗と協力：日本占領下フィリピン周縁社会の大衆史」）と題する論文を執筆中である。ここでは、二人の対日協力者の動きに焦点を当て、一つ目の例としては戦前期の犯罪に対する「罪滅ぼし」的な物質援助や人命救助に関わった人物、二つ目の例では、戦前期に培われた高級日本軍将校とのコネクションを利用しながら、戦時下フィリピンで苦難に喘いでいる人々に対して道義的かつ物質的援助を施した人物について分析している。
