第1に，組織事故の発生メカニズムに関する既存研究の文献調査を行った．この調査の対象は経営組織論にとどまらず，経済学や工学などの幅広い学術分野である．そのうえで，本プロジェクトの申請時点で導出済みであった仮説を修正した．具体的には，組織構造だけでなく，組織内のプラクティスの重要性に研究のフォーカスを移した．第2に，実証分析に用いるデータセットの整理を実施した．そのうえで，Pythonによる高度なデータ整理の必要性が生じたため，外部のプログラマーとの打ち合わせを行った．令和5年度の予算によって本格的なデータ整理を外注することが決まっている．これにより，異なるデータベースの事業所レベルの名寄せがより高い精度で可能となり，時系列分析が実行できる．特定の行為主体を複数時点で分析することは，本プロジェクトの目的達成のために極めて重要である．なぜならば，既存の知見の因果関係の妥当性が低いという課題に対処することが本研究の狙いだからである．とりわけ本研究は，より妥当性の高い因果関係を導出するため，事故発生後の対応にフォーカスした分析を行うことを目指している．事故の有無を説明対象とする分析は，時間軸をどのように設定するかという問題がある．すなわち，事故につながる要因の効果が即座に発現するとは限らないため，事故の有無に影響を与えたのが，どの時点の組織要因であったのか特定することが難しいのである．この問題には，事故を起こしたあとの対応(組織構造の変更)の効果を分析することで部分的に対処可能だと考えられる．類似の事故を経験した組織群に注目して事前のリスクをある程度まで統制したうえで，事故後の対処の差異によってその後の事故率に差異が生じるのであれば，事故後の時点で変更された組織構造の影響を取り出すことができるだろう．以上のことから，本プロジェクトはある程度まで順調に進行しているといえる．
