本研究は、地質構造及び社会情勢との連関から宇部炭田における炭鉱住宅地の形成と炭鉱業衰退後の土地利用変化を明らかにすることを目的としている。本年度は主として炭鉱住宅地形成・変容の分析を行うためのデータ収集を進めた。具体的に、まず炭鉱住宅地形成に関しては、航空写真を用いて炭鉱住宅地と思われる計画住宅地をリストアップした上で、代表点の(閉鎖されたものを含む)登記簿謄本・旧土地台帳(の写し)の取得を行った。その過程で、炭鉱住宅地の所有は炭鉱企業名義でなく、経営者名義で行われている場合が散見されたため、現在、鉱山監督局などから発行されていた鉱区一覧のリスト化と登記情報との照合作業を行っている。なお、これと並行して地質図・鉱区図の収集を行うとともに、近世における宇部炭田の炭鉱業について、近代的な炭鉱住宅形成の前提として整理を行った。続いて炭鉱住宅地の変容過程については、上述した登記簿謄本・旧土地台帳の取得に加えて現UBE発行の社内報である「興和」のうち、宇部市立図書館の所蔵が確認できたものの悉皆調査を行い、炭鉱住宅跡地の開発にも関わっていた「ウベハウス」に関する記事の収集・整理を行った。さらに、宇部市役所にて開発登録簿の悉皆調査を行い、炭鉱企業及びその関連企業が関わった開発の登録簿の写しを取得した。そしてその結果として、宇部市内において炭鉱企業あるいはその関連企業が関わったと思われる開発が少なくとも30件以上あることが明らかとなった。

In addition, the records of the old land platform have been added to the existing UBE bank, and the records have been collected and sorted out by the Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Public Housing and the Ministry of Public Housing. The registration books are registered in the registration books opened by the Ministry of Public Service and the Ministry of Public Service, and the registration books are obtained through the registration of registration books, charcoal enterprises and other enterprises. The results show that in the city of Umoi, the number of carbon enterprises and enterprises in the city has been reduced by more than 30 pieces.
