2022年度、データ解析用PC、解析用ソフトウエア（SPSS, Amos, STATA）を購入し、J-Supportの支援を受けながら、層別化因子とコントロール群の設定、組み入れ基準と除外基準の見直しを行っており、具体的な研究計画・研究計画書を作成している。当初、責任者のプランでは、本研究はphase2と同様、実臨床での状況に近いEffective trialとして実施する予定であったが、J-Supportからの指導とアドバイスを受け、よりCALMの純粋な介入結果を得るために、同時に、層別化因子を減らす目的で、すべての固形がん・進行がんとせずがん種を絞る、抗うつ薬は未使用である、などの組み入れ基準を取り入れた、Efficacy trialとして行うことも選択肢として挙がっており、特にがん種を絞ることに関して、各研究施設で実施可能性を検討中である。RCTのアウトカムに使用する質問紙である、進行がん患者のQOLを評価するQuality of Life at the End of Life-Cancer Scale (QUAL-EC)、進行がん患者の死に関連する苦痛を評価するDeath and Dying Distress Scale (DADDS)、進行がん患者の愛着傾向を評価するExperiences in Close Relationships scale (ECR-M16)の日本語版の信頼性・妥当性を検証した国内での学会発表の計画、上記の日本語版質問紙の検証結果の英語論文の作成が進行しており、2023年4月の時点でQUAL-ECがJournal of Pain and Symptom Managementにアクセプトされており、DADDS、ECR-M16が投稿準備中となっている。協力施設であるがん研有明病院、山口大学医学部附属病院の研究責任者とRCTについてのミーティングを実施し、各施設でのManaging Cancer and Living Meaningfully（CALM）介入群に対する施行者の抽出を始めている。また、RCTに向け、実際の症例とスーパービジョンを通して、本研究に参加する心理療法の実施者2名の育成を行っている。
