東京医科歯科大学病院または釧路孝仁会記念病院にて頚動脈狭窄症に対して頚動脈内膜剥離術を施行した患者21名に対して、頚動脈プラークサンプルと血液サンプルを採取し保管した。また、健常者の血液サンプルも7名分採取し保管をした。患者の病歴を確認し症候性頚動脈狭窄症群と無症候性頚動脈狭窄症群に分けた。また同じ患者を対象にMRI BB法や頚動脈エコーの所見を確認した上で安定プラーク群と不安定プラーク群にわけて解析を行うこととした。また血液サンプルについては、白血球数、ヘモグロビン値、LDLコレステロール、HbA1c、BNP、BUN, Creなどのデータをカルテより収集し比較をした。症候性頚動脈狭窄症群と無症候性頚動脈狭窄症群、また、安定プラーク群と不安定プラーク群の2群間で上記数値に有意な差は認めなかった。次にELISA法を用いてPAD4、PDIA1の値を算出した。健常者、症候性頚動脈狭窄症患者、無症候性頚動脈狭窄症患者の3群間で、PAD4、PDIA1の値に有意な差はなかった。また、健常者、不安定プラーク、安定プラークの3群間でも、PAD4、PDIA1の値に有意な差はなかった。頚動脈プラーク標本については21症例数分のサンプルを総頚動脈側と内頸動脈側の二つに分けてホルマリン固定を行った。次に病理学的検討を行うべく抗体の調整を行い、MPO、単球、PAD4、PDIA1、ヒストンの染色を開始している。
