The Purpose of this study was to examine the performances of Madame Hanako (1868-1945). Madame Hanako was a Japanese actress who toured the West for nearly twenty years at the beginning of the 20th century. She is the only Japanese model Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) ever used. A great number of materials on her are owned by museums and libraries overseas. Through field work research, I was able to gain an understanding of the performances she was involved with. I feel that the discovery of articles and theatre reviews on her performances, which contain many photographs and illustrations, at the Library of Congress and the New York Public Library in the USA, has greatly contributed to the field of study. The results of this study will be reported at the Japanese Society for Theatre Research on 22nd June 2013

本研究的目的是探讨花子夫人（1868-1945）的表演。花子夫人是一位日本女演员，她在世纪初在西方巡回演出了近二十年。她是奥古斯特·罗丹（Auguste Rodin，1840-1917）唯一使用过的日本模特。大量关于她的资料为海外博物馆和图书馆所拥有。通过实地调查，我能够了解她参与的表演。我觉得在美国国会图书馆和纽约公共图书馆发现的关于她表演的文章和戏剧评论，其中包含许多照片和插图，对研究领域做出了巨大贡献。本研究结果将于2013年6月22日在日本戏剧研究学会上发表。
