项目摘要

本年度は主として、次の二点に取り組んだ。第1に、日本の縫製業の歴史性、特に、東北地方（岩手県と福島県）について、文献研究および現地調査に基づいて明らかにした。具体的には、日本経済史、繊維産業史などの文献資料を用い、日本の縫製業の歴史的変遷を明らかにしたうえで、その中での東北地方の位置づけや特徴を、東北地方の経済及び社会構造、伝統・文化、ジェンダー規範（女性の就業率、内職状況など）をもとに考察した。第2に、「二重の経済危機」の影響とその対応について検討するために、2月に岩手県、福島県で縫製工場および地方自治体、産業振興センターでの聞き取り調査を行った。本調査を通じて、（1）「二重の経済危機」の影響（商品単価の推移や受注変動、女性労働者の雇用環境の変化）とその対応（国内外の受注を得るための商品開発、技術の高度化）に加えて、（2）東北地方に残存している縫製工場の現在の体質が、これまでの当該地域の経済、社会環境によって醸成されているという新しい発見がなされた。このことは、当該地域の縫製工場が抱える諸問題、たとえば不採算経営の体質、人材の不足、技術継承の困難について、当該地域の経済、社会環境がどのように変遷したかという視点から考えなおす点で、今後の研究に重要な示唆を与えると予測される。このほか、成城大学グローカル研究センターでのシンポジウム（平成24年10月6日）で、「女性雇用の創出と縫製産業―バングラデシュから東北被災地へ」と題して報告を行った（招待講演）。また、本年度は海外製造を基盤とする海外移転企業の実態調査を十分に行うことが出来なかったが、申請者がこれまで行ってきたバングラデシュにおける日系縫製工場の女性労働者に関する論文を執筆し、学術雑誌『南アジア研究』に公表した。
