We have focused on the role of democracy and institutional factors in economic development and have mainly studied the following three research topics: (1) the effects of ethnic diversity and political regimes on public goods provision, particularly health conditions, (2) the effects of financial openness and institutions on international capital flows, and (3) the effects of corruption and financial globalization on economic growth. We find that democracy and institutional factors contribute to not only economic growth but also economic development in a broad sense, such as public good provision.

我们专注于民主和制度因素在经济发展中的作用，主要研究了以下三个研究主题：(1)种族多样性和政治制度对公共产品提供的影响，特别是健康状况；(2)金融开放和制度对国际资本流动的影响；(3)腐败和金融全球化对经济增长的影响。我们发现，民主和制度因素不仅有助于经济增长，而且有助于广义上的经济发展，例如公共产品的提供。
