The linguistic research of the books of the zen in Yuan dynasty--centering on the cong-rong-lu.

We take up The Cong-rong-lu which gave a Japanese thought a great influence, and compared some kinds of main edition books, and revised a textbook. We researched the terms of the Zen and it's vocabulary, usage. At the sametime, to make the peculier logical structure of the Zen thought clear, we investigated and collected both literature materials of Zen and the dictionaries, indexes to read the spoken languege of the Chinese medieval times and the modern times to improve our research environment. We introduced new personal computers, and increased the efficiency of the research work. We got the cooperation of the student of the graduate school, collected the electronic data of the Zen's literature materials and input the text data of the whole passage of the Cong-rong-lu to the computers. Head investigator added a considaration about the Zen thought of Wang Shouren's school and wrote a thesis about "the tendency of zen thought of Wang Shouren's school and it's estimation" based on the knoeledge which could be acquired through the research of the Zen's literature materials. Then published the whole translation of the Pi-yan-lu in cooperation with other researchers. Head investigator examined it about the Zen's ifluence that influenced to the modern Japanese martial arts theory and made a reort. Head investigator and investigators translated part of the Chinese Cong-rong-lu into Japanese in cooperation, and gave a lot of notes.
