Field experiments on the restoration of hypoxic environment in enclosed bays: practice in Omura Bay as a simulator.

以每年夏季底水缺氧的封闭海湾大村湾为示范区，进行了曝气与海岸生物修复相结合的环境恢复试验。监测营养物质、赤潮暴发和与耗氧有关的微生物活动与监测底层水中低氧的形成是同步进行的。对修复效果进行了综合评价，并提出了恢复大村湾生态系统可持续性和自主调节的切实可行的方案。根据我们的提议，长崎县将从2014财年起在大村湾开始实际的实地试验，作为大村湾环境保护和区域促进行动计划的一部分。

Environmental restoration experiments using aeration combined with coastal bioremediation have been conducted in Omura Bay, an enclosed bay being suffering from hypoxia formation in the bottom water every summer, as a model area. Monitoring of nutrients, red-tide outbreaks, and microbial activities related to oxygen consumption has been made in parallel with the monitoring of hypoxia formation in the bottom water. The effectiveness of the restoration was synthetically evaluated and a practical plan for restoring sustainability and autonomous regulation of the Omura Bay ecosystem was newly proposed. Following our proposal, Nagasaki Prefecture will start practical field experiments in Omura Bay from the fiscal year 2014 as a part of the Action Plan for Environmental Conservation and Regional Promotion of Omura Bay.
