项目摘要

In the academic year 2000 we picked out and analyzed gender issues inherent in each member's discipline, and in 2001 we proceeded to full-scale collaborative research having several meetings and discussions. In 2002, we carried on this project and tried to integrate the members' research products through intensive deliberations.According to our research plan, we've held nine meetings in these three years. The speakers and their title are as follows:The first meeting (14 November 2000), Hiromi Sone, "Licensed Prostitution and Syphilis", Tetsu Sakurai, "Exploitation of Nature as Femininity".The second meeting (18 January 2001), Bridie Andrews (Harvard University), "Gender Studies in The United States".The third meeting (23 January 2001), Yuki Fujime (Osaka University of Foreign Studies), "Licensed Prostitution and Comfort Women of Japanese Army".The fourth meeting (5 November 2001), Robert L. Frodeman (Colorado School of Mines), "Corrosive Effects: Environmental Ethics, Eco-feminism, and the Metaphysics of Acid-mine Drainage".The fifth meeting (19 February 2002), Karim Benammar, "Theory of Abundance and Scarcity", Keiko Tosa, "Transvestite in Myanmar".The sixth meeting (23 July 2002), Minako Konno, "Methodological Risks of Gender Analysis: Examining Analyses of Women in the Managerial Career Track in Japan".The seventh meeting (31 October 2002), "Women and Mathematics in the Eighteenth-century Britain Focusing on Ladies' Diary".The eighth meeting (12 December 2002), Noriko Mitsusue, "Theory and Practice of B. Pappenheim".The ninth meeting (30 January 2003), Hiromi Sone, "Law and Gender in Early Modern Japan".We had very lively discussions in each meeting and promoted our mutual understanding with regard to the theme of this research project. As a result, we are sure we've built a solid basis for the establishment of individuals' gender-identity and the better prospect of the communality of both sexes.
