Research on Information Semiotics and Hypertext Encyclopedia

“信息符号学”是一门试图探索发生在人类活动与计算机处理过程界面上的符号过程（Semiosis）的新学科。我们的研究项目由两个部门组成。1)在理论划分上，对信息符号学的关键概念进行了总体映射；我们制作了信息符号学的“知识树”（概念网络的超文本表示系统）。这个基本概念的网络被植入了我们实验室的内部网，我们可以用这个超文本百科全书来引导博士生学习信息符号学。在一个电子学习网站（http://ocw.u-tokyo.ac.jp）.2)In实践与应用部门)的主页上可以看到这项工作的成果，我们扩大了“知识树”的概念，使其成为一个超媒体工具。运用信息符号学的理论概念，使电视媒体内容分析的智能系统成为可能；我们意识到我们决定称之为“电视分析的知识树”。这是一个用超媒体数据库和概念网络分析电视节目的超媒体百科全书。我们在几个国际研究中心成功地演示了这个超媒体系统，比如巴黎第八大学、赫尔辛基艺术与设计大学，或者法国的IRCAM。

"Information Semiotics" is a new discipline that attempts to explore a semiotic process (Semiosis) taking place on the interface of human activities with computer processing process. Our research project consists of two divisions. 1)In theoretical division, we made a general mapping of keys-conepts of Information Semiotics ; we made what we called a "knowledge Tree" (a hypertext representation system of network of concepts) of Information Semiotics. This network of basic concepts was planted on the intranet of our laboratory and we could use this hypertext encyclopedia to initiate doctoral students to Information Semiotics. One can see the results of this work on the home page of a e-learning site (http://ocw.u-tokyo.ac.jp).2)In practice and application division, we enlarged the conception of "Knowledge Tree" and made it a hypermedia tool. We applied theoretical concepts of Information Semiotics to make possible a intelligent system for analyzing TV Media contents ; we realized what we decided to call a "Knowledge Tree of TV analysis". This is a hypermedia encyclopedia for analysis of TV programs with hypermedia database and a conceptual network. We successfully made demonstrations of this hypermedia system in several international research centers, like the University of Paris 8, Helsinki University of Arts and Design, or IRCAM in France.
