The communication method using the cellular phone mail has spread quickly in these days in Japan. It is remarkable in the young and is indispensable to their everyday life. Some companies of cellular phones provide various pictorial symbols ("E-Moji") and those young people use the symbols and face marks ("Kao-Moji") as an expression of their feeling. This study brings the communication between young people using cellular phone mail into focus. We made simple inquiries about apology using cellular phone mail when those young people are in their apologetic situation. And we collected actuall cellular phone mail data which were exchanged between young people. The result of our mail data analysis clarified that the usage of face marks and pictorial symbols, in other words, the usage of paralanguage expressions is restricted by the degree of intimacy or relationship between young people.

使用手机邮件的通信方式在日本迅速普及。它在年轻人中是非凡的，是他们日常生活中不可或缺的。一些手机公司提供各种图案符号（“E-Moji”），这些年轻人使用这些符号和面部标记（“Kao-Moji”）来表达他们的感情。本研究关注的是年轻人使用手机邮件进行交流的情况。我们做了简单的调查，当这些年轻人在他们的道歉情况下，使用手机邮件道歉。我们收集了年轻人之间交换的手机邮件数据。我们的邮件数据分析的结果表明，面部标记和图形符号的使用，换句话说，语言表达的使用受到年轻人之间的亲密程度或关系的限制。
