In 2005 we conducted the following researches and analyses.1)Based on the questionnaires conducted in each of the four countries in 2004, we have made the statistical analyses and discussed on the results.A)Data of children in each country,B)Data of parents in each countryC)Discussions on similarities and differences between children' s and parents' data2)Comparisons of the data among four countries3)In the Conference of the International Association of Mass Communication in Taipei, 2005, we presented "The State of Reception of Japanese Comics and Television Animations by the East and Southeast Asian Children and their Parents" in the session and publicized the report on the web.4)The quantitative and qualitative analyses of the questionnaire surveys and interviews were discussed to summarize the three years research.According to the research results of our survey it can be said that there is a clear cut difference in the attitudes towards Japan between the East Asia (in this research Korea and China) and the Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia). This result seems to have a lot to do with the past historical experiences of these countries with Japan and also the situations children are placed in each country. Although in all four countries the Japanese animation and comic contents are widely diffused, the facts do not mean that children in each country does like the country of Japan. In Korea and China children have more negative attitudes to Japan compared to the children in Indonesia and Malaysia. This has a lot to do with the historical past experience of these four countries. Such images are not easily erased by the diffusion of the Japanese contents. If we put it in another way, the Japanese animations and comics are seen as more universal than Japanese. In Malaysia and Indonesia we can see some tendency of increased interests in Japan in the Southeast Asian countries, here namely, Indonesia and Malaysia.
