On this project, one town and two villages which are Yuge Town, Uoshima Village, Sekizen Village in Ehime Prefecture in "Setonaikai Islands Area" have been surveyed. These areas are distant from any large cities of Honshu and Shikoku, and its population has been decreasing year by year. And elderly people are getting majority in these areas.According to the survey of elderly people in these areas, it has showed some views. Almost of all the elderly people have wanted to keep living their lives in these areas. They have good human relations in the neighbors, a nice environment, and their friends and relatives are living in their island. But these islands are isolated from cities ; transportation is unavailable, such as go shopping, going to the hospital.In these areas, almost of the elderly people feel anxious about their health conditions. It has been provided the medical and welfare services for the elderly, however it is sure that the shortage of institutional services in these areas. In order to meet the needs of their everyday life and maintain the quality of life, the medical and care services have to be fully developed under the status-quo.

本项目对爱媛县“Setonaikai Islands Area”中的一个町和两个村进行了调查，即Yuge Town、Uoshima Village、Sekizen Village。这些地区远离本州和四国的任何大城市，人口逐年减少。通过对这些地区老年人的调查，得出了一些看法。几乎所有的老年人都希望继续在这些地区生活。他们在邻居中有很好的人际关系，环境很好，他们的朋友和亲戚都住在他们的岛上。但这些岛屿与城市隔绝，没有交通工具，如购物、去医院等，这些地区的老年人几乎都对自己的健康状况感到焦虑。为老年人提供了医疗和福利服务，但可以肯定的是，这些领域的机构服务短缺。为了满足他们的日常生活需要，维持生活质量，医疗护理服务必须在现状下得到充分发展。
