The low-energy effective actuion of type-II superstrings (and of M-theory) compactifled on a Calabi-Yau manifold Was investigated in detail, in the hypermultiplet sector of the effective four-dimensional N=2 supergravity. The new results, describing both classical (from superstring theory), perturbative (from one-loop superstring perturbation theory), and non-pertuirbative (due to D-instantons) corrections, have been obtained by the principal investigator in refs.[1.2,4]. The new exact form of the goldstino action, associated with spontaneous supersymmetry breaking, was derived in ref.[3]. A non-vanishing gravi-photon background results in the effective non-anti-commutativity in the four-dimensional Superspace, whose implications for the low-energy effective action have been calculated to all orders in the gravi-photon field in refs.[[5,6,7,8].The phenomenological predictions (in elementary particles physics) of the intersecting D-brane configurations, as Well as that of the related orbifold/orientifold compactifications, for the flavour structure, the for the flavour structure, The Yukawa coupling structutre and the coupling selection rule, were found in refs.[9,10].
