長崎大学では、平成16年度から医学部医学科5年-6年次学生を対象として「離島医療・保健実習」を開始した。これは、病院実習の一環として、1学年100名を7-8名ずつのグループに分け、それぞれ1週間ずつ長崎県五島市において地域医療、地域保健を学ぶものであり、地域に根ざした包括的医療についての実習を行うプログラムとして全国的にも注目されている。その一方、これまでこのような形での地域密着型医学教育プログラムを実施するという試みは日本でほとんど行われていないため、実施するにあたっての教育ソフトに乏しいのが現状である。そこで本申請では、今後の離島・へき地医療実習、さらには地域医療実習に応用可能な教育ソフトの開発を行う目的とした。研究代表者らは、各分野における教育ソフトの作成を行い、その成果は7月に全国の医学生を対象として行われた「家庭医療セミナー」において公開した。「家庭医療セミナー」は、全国の医学生を対象に、長崎県五島において家庭医療についてのセミナーを集中的に行うもので、研究代表者、研究分担者に加えて欧米の家庭医療の専門家を招聘しての特別講義・実習を行い、その成果はマスコミ等で大きく取り上げられた。さらに研究代表者らはこの成果を世界に発信すべく、長崎大学と学術交流協定を締結している旧ソ連邦のベラルーシ共和国の医科大学(ベラルーシ医科大学、ゴメリ医科大学)を訪問して、インターネット等を用いた遠隔教育(e-learning)システムの整備を行った。これに対して研究代表者がゴメリ医科大学の名誉教授号をうけるなど、ベラルーシ国内でも高い評価を得た。

"Family medicine department" is a national medical student's target center, Nagasaki Prefecture Goto Island's family medicine department, a centralized center, a research representative, a research contributor, and a special lecture on the recruitment of family medicine department in Europe. The results of this research are presented to the world community, Nagasaki University and academic exchange agreements are concluded, and the medical universities of the Republic of China (Nagasaki Medical University, Nagasaki Medical University) are visited, and the development of distance education (e-learning) is carried out. The research representatives were awarded honorary professorships at medical universities and were awarded high marks in China.
