本研究課題では、以下の3つを研究課題として取り組んでいる。(1)欧米諸国の現代化はどのような運動だったのか　(2)日本は欧米諸国の現代化をどのように見ていたか　(3)日本の現代化はどのようなものだったのか2022年度は、主として(2)(3)について、以下の研究を行った。（2）数学教育現代化運動における日本の数学教育者のSMSGの受け止め方に対して、日本数学教育会の活動を分析し、SMSGの日本への紹介が本格的に始まった1964年の段階から，SMSGに対する批判的な言説が登場している事、1964年の年末の時点で，日本独自の現代化運動が唱導されていた事、SMSGの依拠する理論とブルーナーが『教育の過程』において示した理論を一体のものとして理解する発想が日本の現代化運動において存在していた事を明らかにした。日本数学教育学会誌を対象として分析した。また、小学校算数科における数学教育現代化の受け入れについて集合，関数，確率といった新しい指導内容を取り入れつつも，そのねらいは数学的な考え方の指導としていた事が明らかにした。（3）中学校数学科における学習指導要領の編集過程について、「数学調査研究協力者会議」における議事録や配布資料を収集、現代化の影響を受けて作成された面だけではなく、数学的な考え方の一層の強調等、1958年学習指導要領を継承・発展させている側面がある事を明らかにした。また、高等学校の学習指導要領の協力者会議の主査であった秋月康夫の思想を分析し、現代化運動の対象を生徒の上位層に限ると考えた点で対立があった事を明らかにした。
