英文摘要
Within the project we aim for studying light-matter interaction in solids beyond the conventional perturbative single photon absorption regime using time- and angle-resolved photoemission (trARPES). In our studies we will focus on characteristic signatures in the energy-momentum distribution of electronic excitations in graphene and graphite resulting from Rabi oscillations and strong-field Landau-Zener-Stückelberg interferences in the weak-field to strong-field transition regime of light-matter interaction. Central goals of the project are the exploration of the extent of the peak electric field strength regime at which trARPES experiments can be performed in a reasonable manner, the study of dephasing processes in graphene and graphite affecting light-matter interaction processes beyond the perturbative weak-field limit, and the systematic comparison of spectrally resolved experimental data provided by this project with integral strong-field photocurrent measurements of graphene under consideration of model calculations. To the best of our knowledge, trARPES experiments on strong-field effects in solids have not been conducted so far. The proposed project may therefore pave the way for establishing a novel and exciting strategy for probing light-matter interaction processes beyond the conventional perturbative single photon absorption regime using an extremely direct experimental approach.
