This project will study the chemical composition, transport, and dynamics of aerosol particles in the UTLS, with focus on large-scale transport in tropical monsoon regions and small-scale dynamics in the extratropical tropopause region. We will use aircraft-based in-situ aerosol mass spectrometry in combination with other measurement techniques. Additionally, laboratory studies on processing and mass spectrometric characterisation of organic aerosol are planned.
