1.資料調査・収集を中心とする本年度の計画は、以下のようにほぼ計画どおりの成果をあげることができた。(1)GHQ/SCAPのCIE(民間情報教育局)、GS(民政局)およびCAS(民事局)の各文書を調査し、教職追放および北海道にかかわる相当数の資料をマイクロフィッシュ形で収集することができた(CIE文書…287枚、CAS文書…84枚、GS文書…24枚等)。(2)国内文書として、道庁文書の調査を行ったが、占領期に関する文書が現在のところ殆ど収集されていないことが判明した。他方、占領下の北海道に関する系統的記録としての意味を有する北海道連絡調整事務局『執務月報』(外務省外交資料館所蔵)はマイクロフィルムの形で収集することができた。また、教職追放にかかわる「新聞切り抜き」をマイクロフィルムの形で、さらに占領下期に北海道内で発行されていた新聞(『北海道新聞』、『北海タイムス』等)をマイクロフィルムの形で収集した2.以上の資料調査・収集をもとに、教職追放のうちレッド・パージが北海道の教職員組合(北教組)の幹部構成、性格等に及ぼした影響の検討に着手した。現在のところ、(1)左派に属する組合幹部の相当数が直接追放の対象とされ、また組合内に反共的雰囲気が強まる中で組合幹部構成における左派の比率は大幅に低下した、(2)左派の影響下にあった教育研究団体「民主主義教育協会」(民教協)が解体状態に追い込まれ、(3)北教組が「民同」路線を鮮明にした、ことが明らかになった。
