今回の研究費助成期間中主として研究したのは、(1)2ケ月前後の乳児の音声模倣、(2)この時期の発声の音響学的特徴、(3)5才の小脳欠損児と自閉症児の言語行動の特徴についてである。(1)主として母親により繰り返し提示される音や単語の、2ケ月前後の乳児による音声模倣に関しては、模倣の存在は示唆された。しかし、採取されたデータが少なく、明確かつ決定的な証拠を提出するに至っていない。明確なデータの提出をめざして、現在も研究が続行されている。その中で、以下のことが問題点および今後の研究課題として追求されるべきことが明らかになりつつある。・模倣の出現に対する明確な基準の作成。・当初考えていた以上に、模倣の出現に関しては、個人差があるようにみえる。この点についての検討。・3ケ月を過ぎるあたりで、模倣がいったん消失するが、この点についての確認とその理由についての検討。・出現時期が、舌出し反応の、いわゆるco-actionの出現時期と重なっているが、それとの関連および行動としての差異。現在より多くのデータを集めるとともに上記の点を解明すべく研究を進めている。(2)乳児の母語収れん過程が研究課題のひとつであったが、今回は2ケ月児の発声に関して集中的に調べた。その結果、乳児のクーイングに関して以下のことが分かった。この時期、既に、音韻・抑制の特性がかなり変化に富んでおり、全ての音声が平坦で単母音の画一的なものではない。また、父母の発声直後の音声に特性変化の大きいものがが比較的多い。ただし、これらはデータがまだ少ないのであくまで示唆されている段階であり、今後確認する必要がある。(3)言語障害児の前言語行動の特徴を調べることを目的として、当初、ダウン症児を被験対象としていたが、保護者の了解が得にくかったこともあり、他の言語障害児の研究に途中で変更した。その中、小脳欠損児に関しては、世界的にみても珍しい症例であり、現在、医学的チームが結成されて、その治療および行動の解明に取り組み始めたところである。今後研究が進むとともに、興味深いデータが提出されると考えている。自閉症児の研究に関しては、その発声の音響学的な特徴をとりだすべく、これもデータの採取に着手したところであり、今後の進展が期待される。
