6-Amino-6-deoxycellulose (6-ADC) was prepared from native cellulose by three reaction steps. And 6-(N-phenylthiocarbamoyl)amino-6-deoxycellulose (6-PTADC) and 6-Amino-6-deoxy-2,3-di-O-decanoyl cellulose (6-ADC-23D) were synthesized in high yields from 6-ADC, and from 6-Azido-6-deoxycellulose, respectively.6-ADC and its derivatives were subject to the metal adsorption test, and the spectroscopic measurement. It was found that 6-ADC showed a good selectivity for cadmium ion in the metal adsorption test. And UV-VIS-NIR spectrum of a fused mixture of 6-PTADC and copper hydroxide had a strong absorption at near infrared religion. On the other hand, 6-ADC could be also obtained by the ring opening polymerization of the glucoseorhtoester derivative. This preparation method is useful for the synthesis of a regio-selective substituted 6-ADC derivative.
