The purpose of this research is to make a basic study on sentence styles of Japanese, which is usually treated as a practical concept in educational domain, from a linguistic point of view for the purpose of constructing data base. In this research, I define the term "sentence styles" as variety of modal sentential forms. The results of this research are followings :1.I have published two papers which is concerned with classification of interrogative forms in colloquial language, one study on sentences of requiring confirmation and the other study on negative questions. And I have studied on "suru-kotoga-aru" in Modern Japanese as an instance of constructive predicate which expresses iterativity and possibility. I have read a paper on that subject and published the result of it.2.This research links to the activity of meeting for the study of descriptive grammar of Japanese (representative : NITTA, Yoshio). I have taken partial charge of describing the system of epistemic modality from comprehensive and referential points of view in this meeting.3.I have examined the method of constructing data base of the variety of Japanese sentential forms and constructed two types of data base as an experiment, one the type of paradigm and the other the type of attribute.4.I have contrived the method of extracting the pattern of sentential final forms from corpus automatically and I have opened text-processing program which realizes this idea to the public.

本研究的目的是从语言学的角度对日语句式这一教育领域的实用概念进行基础研究，以构建数据库。在本研究中，我将“句式”定义为各种情态句形式。本文的研究结果如下：1。我发表了两篇关于口语疑问句分类的论文，一篇是关于要求确认句的研究，另一篇是关于否定疑问句的研究。我研究了现代日语中的“suru-kotoga-aru”作为表达可迭代性和可能性的构式谓词的实例。我读过一篇关于那个主题的论文，并把结果发表了。本研究与日语描述性语法研究会议活动（代表：NITTA， Yoshio）有关。在这次会议上，我部分负责从综合和指称的角度来描述认知形态体系。本文研究了日语句子形式多样性数据库的构建方法，并构建了两种类型的数据库作为实验，一种是范式类型，另一种是属性类型。我设计了自动从语料库中提取句子最终形式模式的方法，并开放了文本处理程序，向公众实现了这一想法。
